What is PDFLite?
PDFLite is a free collection of online tools for everyday PDF and image tasks: merging, compressing, splitting, converting, rotating, protecting, unlocking, signing and organising PDFs, adding page numbers and watermarks, and removing image backgrounds with AI. Every tool works without an account, without a software install, and without sending your files to a server.
Most PDF websites ask you to upload your documents to their servers, wait in a queue, and trust that the files are deleted afterwards. PDFLite takes the opposite approach: the tools are built with JavaScript libraries that run on your own device, inside your browser tab. When you close the tab, nothing of your file remains anywhere — because it never left your computer or phone in the first place.
Why we built PDFLite
PDFs carry some of the most private documents in everyday life: bank statements, ID cards, contracts, medical reports, salary slips and exam papers. Uploading those files to a stranger's server — just to rotate a page or merge two documents — always felt like a bad trade. Modern browsers are powerful enough to do this work locally, so we built a toolset that proves it: full PDF processing with zero uploads.
PDFLite is an independent project, built and maintained by a small team. We focus on three things: tools that respect your privacy by design, honest free limits instead of dark patterns, and pages that stay fast and simple on any device, including low-cost phones.
How PDFLite works
When you open a tool and choose a file, your browser reads the file into memory and processes it locally using open-source JavaScript technology. The finished document is generated on your device and offered as a download. There is no server-side processing of your documents, no file storage, and no account database with your details. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full, and our Free Limits page states exactly what is free and where the fair-use limits are.

How PDFLite stays free
Running and improving PDFLite costs time and hosting money. To keep the tools free for everyone, we may show clearly labelled advertisements through Google AdSense. Ads will never block a download, never appear inside the tool workflow in a misleading way, and will never change the rule that matters most: your files stay on your device.
